Scott Alexander Rimmer
August 29, 1968 – April 14, 2018
Scott Alexander Rimmer passed away on April 14, 2018. All of his family has faith that he is in Heaven and free from his earthly body. Scott was born to the late Wade M. Rimmer and Judy Ann Rimmer on August 29, 1968, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Scott and his family moved to Daytona Beach, FL in 1972. He graduated from Spruce Creek High School in 1988; served in the U.S. Navy as a Coreman from 1989 to 1992 and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the 1st Gulf War. Scott graduated from Florida State University in 1995; and received his Master's Degree in Health Sciences from University of Central Florida in 2010. In 2003, Scott had an accident in Utah while riding dirt bikes with his friends. His spinal cord injury was a C6-7 and he was classified as quadriplegic. After spending a year in 3 hospitals, Scott returned home to Port Orange, FL. Over the past 15 years of his injury, Scott accomplished so many daily tasks that allowed him to be in the New York Marathon twice, Disney Marathon twice, various marathons through Brooks Rehab in Florida, and established his own “Rims on the Run” Marathon in Deland. He rode his special built bike for the annual DaVita Labs Bike Ride for kidney disease awareness. Scott amazed his family when he did a tandem sky dive in Deland, flew to Paris, France to see the Tour de’ France Race, and visited many other countries with family and friends. Scott was employed for DaVita Labs, Deland, for 12 years and gave all his knowledge and energy to do the best job that an employee could do. He enjoyed the DaVita Bike Rides and many Team Member conventions given for the employees, and he made so many friends all across Florida and the nation. Scott is survived by his wife, Rosa Eugenia Rimmer, and his mother, Judy Ann Rimmer-Wagoner, his brother, Wade M. Rimmer, Jr. and sister-in-law Georgia Sue Rimmer, nephews Wade Rimmer III, wife Shannon Rimmer, niece Hayley, and nephew Tucker Cade; and Jimmy Rimmer; step children Sergio, Juan and Isabela. Scott is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins and spent so much of his time visiting with them. Scott’s father, Wade M. Rimmer, preceded Scott in death in 2003.
