Victoria Barbara Theresa Jacobs, 79, from Greenpoint, New York, passed away July 24, 2024, from cancer in Port Orange, Florida. Victoria Jacobs was a strong spirited woman. Victoria was born December 3, 1944, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York and was raised well into her late teenage years there, attending all-girls Catholic schools and learning ballet. She met Angelo Giglio, her first husband and married him at age 17 on October 17, 1962. The two moved between the Brooklyn and Queens boroughs over the next few years welcoming their four children Kathleen, Dawn, Robert, and Shawn into the world. They eventually moved to Selden in Long Island, New York in 1976. From the 1970 to 1976 Victoria was working as an assistant to an oral surgeon. She became a homemaker and cub scout leader full time from 1976 to 1977. In 1977 she continued her career as a nurse's aid, and began nursing school to be a registered nurse, while maintaining her job. She met Gilbert Jacobs in 1991 and the two married November 23, 1992. The two continued life in Mastic Beach, New York, eventually retiring to Florida in the late 2000s. Victoria was an avid beader and crocheter. Over the years she curated beautiful works often for her friends and family.
Victoria is preceded in death by her grandparents Rose and Alexander Ivans, parents William Taylor, Victoria Robinson and William Robinson, sister Kathleen (Fuzzy) Sullivan, brother William (Bubba) Taylor, Son Shawn (Patches) Giglio, and grandson Robert Giglio Jr. Survived by her husband Gilbert Jacobs, her aunt Margaret Ivans, her sister in law Claudia and spouse Michael Monaghan, sister in law Sheila Taylor. Her ex husband Angelo Giglio. Her three children, daughter Kathleen D’agastino and Nat, daughter Dawn McNeil and Frank, and son Robert Giglio and Sari. Her two nieces Kristine and Frank Mestecky, and Tara and Ryan Selhorn. Her 13 Grandchildren Michael, Tristan, Vincent, Mystique, Alexandrea, Carissa, Lorenzo, Sapphyre, Nane paushat, Kangi si, Kimimila wi, Anthony, and Wahca waste win. Her 15 great grandchildren Shane, Kevin, Saorise, Mckayla, Everett, Blake, Frankie, Sara, William, Mckenzie, Mckaylee, Ryan, Robert, Michael, and Aurora.
The family will receive friends and loved ones for a visitation on Sunday, July 28 from 4 pm to 5:30 pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home - Port Orange, 4815 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange. A funeral service honoring Gidget's life and legacy will be held at 5:30 pm.
