Ginny passed away peacefully on March 13, 2022, at Halifax Health Hospice in Port Orange, FL, at the age of 85. Lovingly remembered by her children, Pam Marshall and James Atwood (Terri). Grandmother to Julie Lee (Matt), Jennifer Joerger (Pat), Andrea Wise, Brittany Trentman, Michael Atwood, and Abby Atwood. Great-grandmother of five. Also survived by her niece, Barbara Kinnett (Gary) and nephew, Mike McFarland. Preceded in death by her parents, Letty and Robert McFarland; spouse, James Atwood III; niece, Kathy McFarland; and five siblings.
Ginny was born in Monticello, KY, on September 21, 1936. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Kentucky, and later moved to Cincinnati, where she obtained her Master’s in Education. She taught in the Princeton School District for 35 years. Ginny and Jim lived in Montgomery, OH, until they moved to Port Orange in 1998. Jim was a pilot, and they traveled in their plane around the country. Ginny was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Port Orange and was a VFW Auxiliary Member. She loved her dog Molly and enjoyed sewing, quilting, and cruises.
