William "Billy" Twomey

William J. Twomey, “Billy”, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle to a wonderful family he adored passed away April 17, 2020 at the age of 88. Born in during the Great Depression, Billy grew up in historical Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn, NY. He always enjoyed reading, viewing and talking of varied levels of history and current events – especially anything related to Ireland. Up until his passing, family members cherished the stories told by “Uncle Billy”.

Billy served our great country in the Korean War (Army) and was honorably discharged and married Mary Harte, a wonderful Irish girl, whose parents migrated from County Cork, Ireland. Billy was a retired New York City Police Officer/Firefighter and Fire Marshall, moving his family to sunny Florida, residing in various areas of Volusia County. After the move, he spent two decades in real estate until his retirement in the late 1990’s.

Billy joins his beloved wife, Mary, and leaves behind many loving family members – including his wonderful nieces and nephews – who will carry on his memories and great stories!

A service honoring Billy’s life and military service will be held at a later date at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell FL.
