Lila Fenech, 89 of Port St. Lucie Florida passed away in her sleep on November 13, 2019. Lila was born on October 11, 1930 to Rona Bryar and John Scott. She attended Dearborn High School in Michigan where she forged friendships that lasted a lifetime.
After graduating, Lila went to work as a comptroller at Ford Motor Company where she met her future husband, Spiridione Fenech. They married in 1950 and had five children which she doted on her entire life. After her children were grown Lila returned to work as a bookkeeper for the City of South Lyon, until she retired to move to Florida. She continued to work as a bookkeeper in Florida until she reached the age of 80.
Lila and Speed (and in later years, several of their children and grandchildren) delighted in traveling the world together including trips to Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and much of the US. They enjoyed the experience of traveling – creating lasting memories and friendships with fellow travelers.
Lila was known for her warm and loving ways. She was the matriarch of a family that adored her, and despite the distance between some of them, she remained actively involved in the lives of her family and friends. She wrote beautiful, thoughtful letters. She filled her home with memories. Every year she spent countless hours transforming her home into a Christmas wonderland. She handcrafted birthday cakes, cooked and baked her special treats for holidays and events, hosted parties, and handstitched beautiful heirloom quilts for many loved ones. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by those she loved and she loved making them happy.
Lila was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother and friend. She lit up a room when she entered – smiling and laughing often and making friends easily. She was an intelligent, beautiful woman of style, grace, courage, and humor. She was, and will continue to be, an inspiration to those who knew her.
Lila is predeceased by her parents Rona Mary Bryar, and John Scott. She is survived by her husband, Spiridione (Speed), her brother, Jack (Barbara) Scott, sisters Jan Schnell and Rona Scott; five children, Diane (Robert) Webster, Joy (Thomas) Thrun, Gregory (Martha) Fenech, Carol (Michael) Furlong , John Fenech; and six grandchildren, Joy, Spiridione (Speedy), Emma, Brianna, Gregory, and Logan.
