With profound sadness we announce the passing of Alex, on February 15th after a brave battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) at the age of 68.
Alex was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who was born on August 11, 1951 in Trenton, New Jersey. He graduated from Drexel University majoring in Computer Science and Business Administration which led to a fulfilling career. He held many corporate positions as Vice President, Director, and Senior Project Manager for Product Development, International Systems and Systems Development. He was also President and owner of Software Professionals for over twenty years where he received multiple awards and recognitions.
His younger years were spent raising his family in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Alex enjoyed many hobbies; hunting and snowmobiling in Maine, biking marathons, boating, men’s softball, coaching, cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles, and golfing with family and friends. He took extreme pride in being the captain of “Dad’s Delight” where he embarked on numerous journeys throughout the summer months in South Jersey. Alex later moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida, where he was able to watch his children excel through college and become hardworking professionals. He became a Seminoles fan and a proud grandfather to Luca and Ava. He spent most of his free time golfing or relaxing by the pool with a drink in his hand.
There are so many stories and memorable moments from Alex’s life that could fill a book. We will remember him by his larger than life personality and contagious laugh. He possessed the innate ability to walk into a room and fill it with love He was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
Alex is survived by his wife of 41 years Vicki (Levasseur) Choby, daughter Elizabeth and Stephen Choby- Lattanzio, two grandchildren Ava and Luca Lattanzio, and was predeceased by his son Adam Choby. He is also survived by his two sisters Carolyn Sheaf (Bill Sheaf) and Suzanne Carducci (Tom Carducci), leaving many nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.
