I coached a lot of players in my career. I don’t know if their were any players that had a bigger heart than Dre which made him special! He already had the the other attributes (athleticism, toughness ,want to) which made him a great linebacker. His big heart is what separated him from others as well as his character. He was truly a pleasure to coach and even more, just to know him was what I so much enjoyed! Bless his family and friends! Thanks Andre!🏈

This was very hard to do man.
Bro, this just seems unreal writing in a box about a guy who's always thought and lived outside of everybody he's ever seen.
You lived the BIG life b/c you were bigger than life! I observed it and had the blessing of experiencing it with you. From Bama State to Boardrooms brother.
Everyone loves and misses you. We are all so proud of the husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, mentor, colleague, protector and citizen you were.
There will never be another Dre(45). You can never be replaced. Rest knowing that Tam, Mani and babygirl Autumn are in good hands and you left things in great order. Your village stands strong!!
Yesterday I drove 600 miles of our old GA stumping roads while listening to all the old music we enjoyed over the years and looking back on great fun times. Thank you for being a true friend and family.
I love you bro! #4life
Mak
P.S. You finally won the "who's tougher" argument yesterday.....but, you didn't play fair.....lol. Until we meet again brother. #chevyinthesky

Dre, you will be missed by all that loved and adored you. You were smart, energetic, witty and goal driven. Always had a positive spin on every situation and just an overall great outlook on life. Your passion for living kept us inspired and hopefully we all can grab a piece of it to remember you by. Rest on my friend you will be forever missed but never forgotten. Well done.

I met Dre at Bama State many years ago, but it seemed like yesterday. We immediately became good friends. Later on he would become my brother . Dre was genuine, full of life that would easily rub off on you. Dre you lived a good life brother, family over everything. Sending my condolences, and prayers to his wife Tammy and his daughters, Mr Dillard, and the rest of the Dillard family.. Rest easy brother. 🙏 Love you big dawg! My heart goes out to Tammy and their children! Dre or "Big Dawg" as we called him inspired everyone he came in contact with, leaving nothing but great times and memories along the way.. He was a friend that quickly became a brother from another mother. I will forever be greatful to have known an individual as impeccable as you!
RIP Dre

Tammy, my condolences & prayers to you, your daughters, & the family. When I first transferred to The Alabama State University. I had a meeting with Coach Markham & so did Dre. We talked outside of coach office door waiting to be called in. During my conversation with coach, he gave me a option of playing RB or LB, so I chose LB he told me to get with Dillard & workout with him. Unannounced to me Dillard was Andre "Dre" Dillard who I was talking to prior to going into his office. At our first workout, who was Dre's workout partner, none other than Mak. There in Lockhart Hall inside that cage called a "weight room" started a 20+ yr friendship with those 2 guys. Dre was humble, a good friend, great teammate, just all around good guy. He will be missed by many. You're in our prayers.🙏🏿 🖤💛 RIP ASU🏈LB#45 HOUSE HOUSE

You expressed loving your family at each gathering. That love is reciprocated. Actions not words...Up early serving family, slaving over a hot grill you mastered every summer gathering in July. Perfection complimented by your mothers corn muffins! Tammy's Mac and cheese and Aunt Connie's famous baked beans. Only when you were unable to, were you not present. A smile that would light of the room, accompanied by genuine hugs, life of the party. Gone, but not forgotten much love, your pesky cousin Britt.

My name is Miriam and I was a classmate, in several high school classes, of Andre's. We had so many laughs, "jones," deep discussions, cheating off of each other, wiping his sweat on me after football practice on the after school bus, moments a classmate/friend could have. Andre was like a brother from a different mother to me. He will truly be missed. I pray for the Dillard family's strength during this time of bereavement.

Andre or Big Dre as we affectionately called him was a big brother to me and my big brother. I remember seeing him a few years back at an Northside/ North Atlanta alumni reunion gathering. He was sharp as always and that smile lit up the entire room. We talked for a few minutes and he gave me a hug before he walked away to speak to others. He had so many people pulling at him to talk, hug, and reminisce. Evidence of how loved and admired he was. I'm forever grateful to have known him. We love you Dre! May you rest in peace. Your wife and family are in my prayers.

I remember meeting Dre for the first time in 1999 playing golf in Fort Lauderdale. With his infectious smile he gave me a hug then pulled out of a bag a nice heated Georgia Bullet (sausage). That was always a lasting impression of the kindness and thoughtfulness this man bestowed to me. I pray for the family for having him leave us so young. I will always love my brother and may he Rest In Peace. 🙏🏽🏌🏽♂️ ♥️

To The Dillard Family My Condolences & Prayers are with you. I'm a Classmate and Friend from The Prestigious Northside High School Class of 1991. Dre was a well all around guy who I admire because of his personality and the way he carried himself. I remember a conversation he and I had about his Monte Carlo and I joked with him about Training Day and I told him that I'll be down that way soon for business trip and he said make sure you hit me up and I said I sure will but time and my schedule didn't permit me to do that. But my good friend Rest Well and again to The Dillard Family you're in my thoughts, Prayers and heart.

I'm sorry for your loss. Andre was like none other. I've known him since middle school and I can say he has always been Dre. A big smile and always handling people with love like we all should. He taught many lessons just by being himself. Over 30 years of friendship that I and the rest of his classmates, Northside High School C/O 91, will remember for many years to come. He will truly be missed in this world! Rest well my friend rest well. As I always tell my classmate #NothingButLove

Andre was a great cousin. I will always cherish your support and love. You was a wonderful husband and father. We are so proud of how you raised your kids and showed them love. I remember walking up Macon Drive on Sundays to the Dillard House. We would play tag football in the street. However , Doozy and Andre always wanted to play “sideline bust”. Although it was touch football you could hit on the side near the grass. Reggie Rice through me a ball , I caught it and Dre lit me up .. I was literally seeing stars. I wanted to go home and Mr Dillard hollered out the door.. “you better get tough”!! Fast Forward, I was playing QB at N Fulton when Dre and Clarence were at Northside. ....he lit me up again. Between him and Clarence. I decided football wasn’t for me. He was one of the toughest competitors I knew. However, off the field he was the coolest. I know that him and Nantambu would link up from time to time in Miami and I promised to catch up with him on my next trip.
Although it may not be in Miami.. I will indeed see him soon! Rest well my brother.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Dillard family. Dre was a true friend and brother to me for over 30 years. He modeled what hard work and determination look liked. Dre enjoyed the grind and smiled through it all. He made an impact on everyone he touched. I love you Dre and will keep your daughters and wife in my prayers.

I first met Andre at one of his favorite spot in Ft. Lauderdale, Catfish Dewey. I was dating one of his teammate at the time. Dre’s first impression on me was golden: Lots of laugher-brilliant insights and a whole lot of BAMA football jokes. He was Magnetic and loving and he made me feel apart of the hornet family. I am deeply sadden to hear that he is gone. To his wife and daughters you are in my prayers and I am bless to know that you were the wind beneath his wings!

My name is Tim, Dre and I played together for 3 years at Bama State. I want to say, it was an absolute blessing knowing him for almost 30 years. He blessed and enriched the lives of those who came in contact with him. I am deeply saddened by his passing and I am praying for your strength and for the strength of all his loved ones. He will forever be treasured in my heart.

Dre was the first person I met when I moved to Florida in 2011. Immediately we were brothers! It was something about him...genuine! Knowledgeable about so many topics...we talked about everything. So many great memories. Will forever love my brother Andre.

Dre was like a big brother to me while I was at Bama State. I can still hear him fussing me out on the field and we challenging each other on assignments. I was so thankful for him and to reunite in the recent years was great. His wisdom, his charisma was impeccable.......but more importantly, his HEART was that of a lion. GOD has gained a true ANGEL to HIS kingdom. Love you 45. Thanks!

I remember our freshman year when he came home with me because his older brother Clarence was on scholarship at Southwest jr college and he had not seen his older brother in a long time also his roommate named Billy. I was happy to see them reunited.
