Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Detective (RET) David “Duke” Walsh passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, in Port St. Lucie, FL. David was born in Orange, New Jersey, and moved to Palm Beach County in 1969.
He is survived by Lois Walsh, his wife of 62 years; his two children, Lisa (John Lund), and David (Becky); brother, Ray; sister, Helen; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jami), Brandon, Jack and Claire; great grandchildren Gracie Ann and Eriden.
“Duke” started his law enforcement career in 1961, retiring from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s office in 2004. He is a life member of the PBA. He was the recipient of a myriad of awards and accolades, saving lives and protecting others. He was a loving and proud husband, father, army veteran, golden gloves boxer, actor, and avid golfer. Duke’s handshake and his word was gold. You could count on him. He had your back and he still does. May God bless him.
Friends may call at AYCOCK FUNERAL HOME, 12571 SW Tradition Parkway, Port St. Lucie, FL 34987 on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 350 NW California Blvd., Port St Lucie, FL on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 10:00 AM. Interment with Military Honors will follow immediately after the Mass at Riverside Memorial Park, 19351 County Line Rd., Tequesta, FL.
