Donna Hoffmann of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed peacefully at the age of 73, on August 17, 2026.  Born in Opa-locka, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Elaine (Daugherty) Taibl and Harry Palmer. 

Donna was the devoted wife of Alan Hedberg to whom she was married for 18 years and loving mother to son Todd Hoffmann.  After retirement, Donna and Alan moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida.  Together they shared a wonderful life filled with love, family, travel and creating memories that remained precious to Donna throughout her life.

As a native Floridian, Donna grew up in Plantation, Florida and graduated from Plantation High School in 1971.  Her professional career began with Tropical Financial Credit Union as a teller, rising to the position of Branch Manager.  She retired after 32 years with the same company. 

Donna loved to socialize, sing and dance with family and friends.  She especially enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren, who she loved and were always eager to entertain her.  Donna was an excellent interior designer.  People were always complimenting her on the décor she created in our homes and cabin.

Donna is survived by:
Children: Todd (Amy) Hoffmann; 
Step-children: Brian (Kathleen) Hedberg, Ashley (Bobby)             Deliago, Lindsey (Stephen) Gamp;
Seven grandchildren; 
Siblings: Gale (Michael) Alexander, Connie (Ray) King, Bruce (Hannah) Palmer and Kim (Avi) Safar.

Donna lived a full and beautiful life. She was a very caring woman with talent, creativity, and warmth who loved deeply and was deeply loved in return.  Her family will remember her for the joy, love, and unmistakable spirit she brought into their lives. She will be greatly missed and forever cherished.

After we lost our mother, Donna once again stepped forward, this time caring for our father until the end of his life. That was Donna. She gave of herself quietly and lovingly to the people she cared about.

Then, about five years ago, our family received heartbreaking news: our beautiful sister Donna had also been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

As the close group of siblings we had always been, we came together around her. We made a conscious effort to spend as much time with Donna as we possibly could—through family reunions, gatherings, visits, and many precious one on one moments. We wanted her surrounded by the same love she had so freely given to all of us throughout her life.

Today, we feel incredibly blessed for every one of those moments.

Donna was our sister, our friend, our caregiver, our gathering place, and in so many ways, the sanctuary of our family. Her kindness and love will remain with us always.

And now our beautiful angel is at peace, reunited with the mother she once cared for so tenderly.

May God hold you close, Donna\. May you rest peacefully in His loving arms.

Our beloved Donna was one of five siblings—Gale, Connie, Donna, Bruce, and Kim. Donna was the third daughter, born just before me, the only son.

Our family story began when our newlywed mother and father, after expecting their first child, left West Philadelphia and headed south to Opa-Locka, Florida. After a few rentals, they found the place we would come to call home—a modest three-bedroom house filled with five children, all born within just six years and two months.

It was a full house, but more importantly, it was a home filled with family, laughter, memories, and love.

We had a wonderful childhood together. Then, shortly before man first walked on the moon, our strong and determined Irish mother moved our family north to Plantation, Florida, where we would finish our growing-up years.

Eventually, we graduated from high school, and as the years passed, the siblings began moving in different directions across the country. There were marriages, families, careers, adventures, and lives of our own. But Donna was the homebody among us. She never wandered too far from the place we had grown up, eventually building her own life and family with Todd and their only child.

No matter how far apart the rest of us traveled, we remained a very close family, always knowing where one another was and what was happening in each other’s lives.

Donna became the heart and sanctuary of our family—the place where everyone seemed to gather. She was a wonderful host and had a gentle, kind disposition. She loved to laugh, loved to have fun, and had a way of making people feel comfortable and welcome. Donna was simply a safe and loving place for all of us to come home to.

As the years passed, our family faced one of life’s most difficult challenges when our mother developed Alzheimer’s disease. Because Donna had remained close to home, she became our mother’s devoted caregiver. For many years, she cared for her with extraordinary patience, compassion, and love.
