Dorothy Frances Whalen

Whalen, Dorothy Frances was swept away by our heavenly father in her sleep November 25, 2014. Wife of Francis (Frank) Whalen; mother of Robert (Andrea) Alpi, Patricia (Dwayne) Poland, Edward Alpi, Joanne (Robert) Graef, John Alpi, William Alpi, Kathleen (Thomas) Gannon, & Suzanne (Joe) Royer; stepmother to five children Bruce, Barbara, Patricia, Lorraine, Scott; grandmother & step grandmother of 26 grandchildren; great grandmother of 21 great grandchildren. Dorothy was born March 9, 1925 in New York, New York & graduated from Academy of Sacred Heart of Mary (1942). After raising children for over a decade she went to back her career with New York Telephone in Mt. Kisco in 1963 as a rep concluding her career as a Distribution Manager in New York City after 32 years. She married her beloved husband Frank on May 15, 1982. Dorothy raised her 8 children in Westchester County, New York. For six decades, Dorothy was a nurturing & devoted mother, wife, grandmother & great grandmother. For the past 17 years, the Whalen’s have called Florida home. She loved to go to the beach and walk along the shore collecting shells, singing, especially at mass sharing her melodic voice, loved to ride on the bow of the boat, skiing in New York Mountain & New Hampshire, golfing, dining out and driving very fast in her 1970 Challenger! A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday December 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Saint Bernadette's Church, 350 NW California Blvd. St Lucie West, FL 34986. Donations can be made to Treasure Coast Hospice.
