Elsie (Chiron) Day was born on October 12th 1942 to Joseph and Razia (Chiron) Aladin in Port au Prince, Haiti. Elsie grew up in a family where she learned how to work hard and develop a life of love and respect for her parents and others. In her youth, she met Leslie Day, whom became the loving husband of her life until he passed away. They were later blessed with beautiful children and grandchildren.
In search for a better life, Elsie had the opportunity to come to the United States of America. There, she practiced what she learned from her parents, which is: working hard and honesty are keys to success in life. She worked hard so that she could provide for her family. Elsie was known for her great personality and a devoted woman of God. She worked as a CNA for many years before retiring from Kolmar, a cosmetic company. She served several years as a teacher volunteer at her neighborhood elementary school. She received several certificates of appreciation for her service and passion to help the community. Elsie was a woman of faith who truly believed in, trusted in, and loved God. At Ft Pierce Haitian Methodist Church, where she was a member until death, she was a faithful Christian who loved and appreciated life. She was one of the most tenacious persons who dedicated her life to serve God and for the well-being of her family and others. She accomplished her works well in countless ways until the very end.
Sadly, she later found out in 2020 that she was diagnosed with cancer. But even in the face of sickness, she never gave up and she kept the faith. She never stopped smiling, praying, and hoping for a better life. Finally, on Friday June 17th, 2022 she peacefully and faithfully passed away to meet with the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, Sister Elsie is in a better place where there is no more sickness and pain.
Elsie is survived by her older sister Oremise Dixon, her loving children Georgia Brown (Christopher Brown), Nancy Robinson (Kenneth Robinson, Trina Simmons (Anthony Simmons) , Patrick Day and Gairlynn Irizarry (David Irizarry); Twelve Grandchildren Jamilah Chanie, T’naya Kebe, Imani Hall, Crystal Brown, S’nya Robinson, Davina, Joshua and Ariana Irizarry, Jacey and Evander Day and Anthony and Nayla Simmons; And one great grandchild Ashtyn Wells.
Elsie Day was a godly woman of honor, courage, and bravery. She values family needs to the extreme where she would put her own life achievements to pause so others would prosper. We are all blessed to have experienced Elsie’s prayers, laughter, cooking, dominoes, fishing and dancing. She was the pray warrior of our family and will be truly missed.
