Geri was born on October 24, 1943 to John Collins and Dorothy Retseck in Hobart, Indiana. Later, she lived in Evergreen Park and Lockport in Illinois.
First and foremost, Geri was proud to be a loving mother, wife, friend, and homemaker.
In 1991 Geri married Lee Morris. Whether dancing to oldies, riding motorcycles through the Smoky Mountains, or visiting with friends and family over an ever-present cup of coffee (and occasional Bloody Mary), Lee and Geri made a great team.
Geri’s kind spirit and self-less love permeated each of her relationships. With her immediate family, her life-long friends or even chance encounters, Geri touched all with her genuineness. She loved fully and embraced anyone placed in her path.
Her loving nature was rivaled only by her fierce protection of her children and grandchildren. She consistently placed others above herself and was the living example of a servant leader. Although by far the gentlest of the bunch, Geri was indeed the matriarch of her family and her presence was--and will continue to be--the binding force uniting those who loved her.
A private seaside celebration of life will be conducted at a later date.
Geri’s family is grateful to everyone who shared her journey with their prayers, support and love.
