Gloria V. Ferguson

April 12, 1941 – February 25, 2021

On April 12, 1941, Frank and Clarice Chin welcomed their first child, Gloria Veronica Chin into the world. She was the eldest of her other siblings, Patrick and Lorna.

In Jamaica, she attended St. Joseph Girl’s School, Alpha Academy and Jamaica Commercial Institute. Upon entering the business world, she landed her first job at Chin Yee’s Travel Service, later she went to Stone and Webster Construction Company and finally at Karam’s Car Mart.

While working at Karam’s, she met Lance, they fell in love and tied the knot. A year after their marriage, they had their first child, Kirt. A few months later after the birth of Kirt, Gloria received her Visa to migrate to the US. With a broken heart, she had to leave her husband and child. Gladly, a few months after her departure Lance and Kirt were reunited with her.

A new life started for them in the Bronx, NY. After 4 years, their second child Richard was born. Lance landed a job at General Motors in Tarrytown, NY. Gloria worked at New Rochelle Nursing Home in New Rochelle, NY.

After raising their boys to adulthood, Lance retired after serving 39 years at General Motors and Gloria retired after 31 years at New Rochelle Nursing Home. Later, they decided to move to Florida to enjoy their golden years.

Gloria will be missed greatly by all. Her and Lance were married for 55 years.
