Janet D Holt

She was their only child. They resided in Gaithersburg, Maryland where Janet was raised. Her father was a police officer with the Montgomery County Maryland Police Department, and her mother was a homemaker.

Growing up she enjoyed athletics and was the captain of the majorette corps of the marching band at Gaithersburg High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She would go on to marry her first husband E. Wilson Dove in 1956. Her first child, Tina was born in 1957.

Soon Janet and her new family would move to Hollywood, Florida in 1959. In 1961 Janet’s second child, Steven was born in Hollywood, Florida. After moving to Lauderhill, Florida Janet entered nursing school at Broward Junior College and graduated Phi Theta Kappa with an AS degree in nursing in 1970. The early years of her nursing career were spent working as a “float” RN at Broward General Hospital in various units that gave her a diverse foundation in nursing practice.

Janet would eventually develop a special interest in emergency nursing and trauma care. She obtained her Certified Emergency Nurse designation in 1981.She would continue her education completing her BS degree from Barry University in 1984. Her work in emergency nursing would include training nursing and paramedic students and personnel over many years. In 1983 she was appointed to the Broward County Regional Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council and sat on the initial EMS review board for Broward County.

Janet would retire from full time nursing in 2005 but would keep her nursing license active until 2024. She would frequently remind other caregivers that she was still a nurse!

In 1978 her first marriage ended in divorce, and she would go on to marry Donnald Ray Holt on September 17, 1985, and they would reside in Lake Placid, Florida. After Don’s death in in 2020 Janet would move to Boynton Beach, Florida to be closer to her children Tina and Steve. In 2023 she would join her children and move to Port St. Lucie, Florida. Tina Heysler would subsequently pass on March 13, 2025.

Janet enjoyed cooking and preparing meals for family and friends. Janet also loved to dance! She was never shy and frequently joined others on the dance floor at her assisted living community. Janet is survived by her son Steven, her daughter in law Lillibeth, her four

grand daughters Katherine Dove, Lindsay Guerro, Lauren Olguin, Leah Heysler, and four great grandchildren.

Eternal rest grant unto Janet, O Lord. May she rest in peace. May her soul and all the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
