He was preceded in death by his parents Michael J. and Veronica H. , as well as his siblings Donald J., Thomas M and Dorothy A. He attended St. Mary's High School and went on to Youngstown State University and Kent State University. He served in the Navy and while there attended Basic Electronics and Electric courses as well as cryptrographic training.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Klingensmith, sons John Jr. and Jeffery R. He leaves his step-sons Stephen J. and his wife Deanna, grandsons Michael and Seth, Gregory H. and his wife Tammy, grandsons Tommy, Josh and Jake, and Patrick D. and his wife Katie.
He retired from Delphi (formerly Packard Electric) after 33 years as shift supervisor in June 2000 and moved to Port St. Lucie FL.
He enjoyed fishing and working outside, taking cruises and going to his timeshare in Aruba.
