He is survived by his two daughters, Carrie Botkin (Brian) and Connie Angermeier (Michael), five grandchildren Joshua, (Austin), Katie, Benjamin, Devon, and Brendan, brothers Frank (Linda) and George (Paula), sisters Sheryl Waltonbaugh (Jack), Vicki Baker (late Leo), Rena Everly (Rick), many nieces and nephews, and Diann Hess. He is preceded in death by his parents John Sr. and Irene (Shivak), and siblings Ray and Bryan.
John was passionate about American history, particularly the Civil War, and was very knowledgeable about battles and their significance. John was also a proud United States Army Veteran during the Vietnam War.
