

Served in the USAF during the Korea War from 1948-56 (honorably discharged Jan. 1956 with the rank of Staff Sergeant).
Worked as a paint sales manager/contractor for 10 years and furniture repair/refinisher for six years.
Married Joan Farias in September 1955. After honeymooning in Miami Beach, Florida, they decided to relocate to South Florida and settled in Hialeah in August 1957. They were married one month short of 59 years when she passed away in August 2014.
Earned his GED diploma in Korea, his Bachelor’s degree from Barry University and his Master’s degree from Nova University.
Worked as an Adult Counselor/Occupational Specialist in Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) for almost 24 years.
Was the only counselor in M-DCPS to be appointed to serve on the district’s initial Dropout Prevention Committee in May 1985.
Upon his retirement in 1991, they moved to Port St. Lucie.
Was a member of the Freemason, Knights Templar and Mahi Shrine organizations.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Carreiro and his wife, Debra L. Carreiro of North Miami, FL.
