With heavy hearts and deep love, we celebrate the beautiful life of Linda May Bailey, a strong Jamaican woman whose warmth, determination, and caring spirit touched everyone who knew her.
Born in Saint Ann, Jamaica, on February 4, 1929, Linda carried the strength and pride of her roots throughout her life.
Linda was a woman of resilience and resourcefulness. She had a gift for connecting with people and building lifelong friendships wherever she went. Her wisdom, humor, and loving nature made others feel welcomed and loved.
Linda enjoyed life in the simple but meaningful ways that mattered most to her. She could often be found tending to her vegetable garden, nurturing life with the same care she gave to the people around her. She was also a loyal Los Angeles Lakers fan who passionately cheered her team and could often be heard yelling, “Knock them down, Kobe,” or “Do better, LeBron”.
More than anything, Linda will be remembered for her strength. She faced life with determination, grace, and an unshakable spirit. She taught those around her the value of perseverance, kindness, and community. Her legacy is not only in the family she leaves behind, but in the countless lives she touched with her generosity and love.
In 1958, she immigrated to Canada and later moved to New York, where she became a United States citizen. During her time in New York, she worked multiple jobs and retired as a nurse’s aide for the Hebrew Home for the Aged in 1994. Shortly after her retirement, she moved to Florida. She later passed in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, on May 18, 2026, leaving behind generations of family, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her sister, Lily Stewart; her son, Stanley, and his wife, Audrey; Her daughter, Rose; her granddaughter, Riahn; and many nieces and nephews. Her family was one of her greatest joys, and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on through them.
Today, we do not simply mourn her passing, but we celebrate a life well lived, a woman deeply loved and who loved others, and a spirit that will never be forgotten.
May she rest peacefully, surrounded by eternal love.
