On June 23rd, 2022, Mary Grace Smith passed away in her bed at home. A little over two weeks shy of her 78th birthday, Mary Grace – or MG as she was lovingly referred to by her work colleagues – lived a fulfilling, vibrant, and interesting life. Born in Pennsylvania to coal miners and Second World War veterans; she lived for many years in New York, where she met her husband and had three children; moved to Florida where she worked for Martin County Fire Rescue and, coincidentally, introduced two of her children to their future spouses. Mary Grace loved to dance and, once they were alive, loved nothing more than to see her grandchildren, especially altogether. She is survived by eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three adult children, and many MCFR family members. Mary Grace – or Nana or Grammy or MG – was the sweetest, most tender-hearted person anyone could ever know. Her loss, despite knowing that she no longer suffers on this Earth, has sorely affected her family. Sundays, and holidays, won’t ever be the same.
