Owen was born on August 13, 1945, in St. Ann, Jamaica, the eldest of eleven children to Hubert and Eugene Williams. Owen attended St. Andrew Technical High School and furthered his education at The College of Arts Science and Technology in Kingston, Jamaica, graduating in 1976. Owen married his wife Iris, on August 30, 1969 and the union bore three children. Owen worked for The Jamaica Telephone Company as a Telecommunication Technician for 22 years, before emigrating to the United States in 1991, settling in Queens, New York. He worked for AT&T Communications for 18 years before retiring to Port St Lucie, Florida, to start his own business Brimms Telecommunication in 2003. Owen served his church, Fort Pierce Seventh Day Adventist as head deacon and ministered through giving to those in need in the community. His garden was his life’s work and his passion communicating his kindness, empathy and love. God gave him as a son, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and a man of God, but he was so much more to the community, serving as mentor, neighbor, confidant and counsellor to friends and associates.
Owen is survived in life by his wife of 52 years, Iris, children Parnell, Neil, Evon and Heather, sons-in-law, Clive and Mark, daughters-in-law Janice and Ana; his beloved grandchildren Kevin, Kailia, Alyssa, Kyle, Kacia, Chanel, Mykah, Mya, Ashley and Aaliyah; brothers and sisters Huon, Minnette, Violet, Hubert, Melbourne, Verona, Sylbourne, Lynton and Novelette. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and sibling Henry Williams. He leaves behind to cherish his memory countless friends and family.
Homegoing services will be held on April 17, 2022 at Fort Pierce Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2601 Virginia Avenue, Fort Pierce, FL 34981 - with viewing beginning at 10am, followed by funeral services at 12 noon. Services will be live streamed.
