Richard Davis, a devoted husband, beloved father and grandfather, respected educator, and proud veteran of the United States Air Force, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born with a deep sense of duty and curiosity, Richard lived a life grounded in service, scholarship, and family. His early years in the U.S. Air Force shaped his character—instilling discipline, leadership, and a commitment to excellence that he carried into every chapter of his life.
After retiring from the military, Richard pursued his passion for education, earning a Doctor of Health Science degree from Nova Southeastern University. He went on to become the Dean of the College of Allied Health and Nursing at Nova Southeastern and later Vice President of the Regional Campus Network, where he inspired countless students and faculty alike. His leadership left an indelible mark on the institution and helped shape the future of healthcare education in Florida and beyond.
More than his professional achievements, Richard will be remembered for the way he lived—with quiet strength, integrity, and a warm sense of humor. He was a craftsman at heart, spending hours refinishing furniture with care and precision. He found peace on the golf course, joy in camping trips, and serenity on the water with a fishing rod in hand.
He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Margaret Davis; his children, Kathleen Thaxter, son-in-law Russell Thaxter, Alex Davis, Daniel Davis and daughter-in-law Shannon Davis; and his cherished grandchildren: Aiven, Reagan, Connor, Chloe, Charlie, Ryan, Hayley, and Hannah. His family was his greatest pride, and he reveled in being “Grandpa”—a role he embraced with unwavering love and gentle wisdom.
Richard's legacy is one of dedication—to his country, to higher education, and most of all, to his family. He taught by example, led with kindness, and lived with purpose. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at Aycock at Tradition, 12571 Tradition Parkway, Port St Lucie, FL 34987 on June 30, 2025 at 2:30pm-5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a veterans' organization or educational scholarship fund of your choice, causes that were close to Richard’s heart.
