Robert was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on November 11, 1959, where he lived in east Kingston until he migrated to the US in 1985.
He was a retired Senior Budget Analyst for St Lucie County. Robert worked for the State and County for over 31 years
In his youth, Robert attended Holy Rosary Preparatory School and then went on to Kingston College, including 2 years in Sixth Form. From there he attended the College of Arts, Science and Technology where he studied accounting and graduated.
Robert met his wife at age 12, dated later on and got married in 1983. Robert and Dianne traveled to over 40 countries and covered all continents. He later admitted that he was not a fan of flying and did not like long trips, but did it so that Dianne could fill her passion for travel. Of travel, he said that he never realized how much he would love to know and experience different cultures and was grateful he went along for the ride. He happily and enthusiastically rode elephants and camels, which to him were never on his bucket list before.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dianne, and two daughters, Sharla Marie O’Sullivan and Gian Theresa O’Sullivan, whom he adored and did everything he could to demonstrate his undying love for them. He fondly called his girls “darling” whenever speaking to them, even during a scolding. He also leaves behind his Brothers and Sisters, Marjorie, Vernie, Gary, Bobby, Marlene, Terry, Ricky, and David; grandchildren, beloved Alexander and Andrew, who were Robert’s pride and joy. He could never stop talking in amazement about these boys. He happily picked them up from school, had boys-time, eating out and going to the pool. He was predeceased by his parents, Laurel Lee and Boise O’Sullivan.
In high school, Robert established himself as a top 100-meter runner representing the school, first at the Gibson Relays in the 4x100 meters class 4, then at Champs in class 3 the following year. At sports day he finished third in the 100 meters, and fourth in long jump. In the pool, Robert was a top freestyle swimmer, progressing to be rated in the top 3 in the 13-14 age group in Jamaica. Robert was also a very good table tennis player. He represented the Renock Lodge Table Tennis team in club competition. He then turned his attention to badminton and quickly progressed to B division before migrating when he picked up racquetball. He was in the racquetball group for over 30 years. He was an avid player. Robert played indoor and outdoor racquetball and played competitively, winning many trophies in his prime. He still managed to play just one month before his passing.
His loving spirit will be missed by many.
