

Salvatore "Sal" Pizzurro, age 86, of Port St Lucie, Florida passed away on Saturday January 27, 2018. Salvatore was born April 27, 1931 to the late John B. and Maria Pizzurro nee Filigenri in Montelepre, Sicily.
Sal moved to New York in 1959 where he lived in Queens and Long Island until 1994 when he settled in Port St. Lucie. Sal was a Carpenter and was a member of the Carpenter's Union. He enjoyed gardening. He was a musician at heart and mastered the trumpet and accordion. In his younger years, Sal would be found at the casino in Atlantic City. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke louder than those words. He loved and provided for his family and adored his grandchildren. He cared for his canaries, especially Chicho. Sal enjoyed playing cards, travelling domestically and internationally to Europe. He cherished the time he spent on cruises. He was a handyman , always looking for a project around the house to conquer. Upon his retirement to Florida, Sal stayed active until he was to ill. He was active in the Elk's Lodge of Port St. Lucie, the Club House for Vista St. Lucie. He had been a member of the Knight's of Columbus in Jensen Beach at St. Martin de Porres.
Sal was preceded in death by his brothers, Filippo and Pietro Pizzurro.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Vincenza Pizzurro; daughters, Mary Pizzurro and Julie Barrella (Thomas); grandchildren, Thomas Barrella, Frank Barrella, Danielle Follano, and Dominick Follano; brothers, Giovanni Pizzurro and Joseph Pizzurro; and sister, Antonina Sapienza.
A visitation for Salvatore will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a vigil at 7 PM at Aycock Funeral Home, Byrd, Young & Prill Chapel, 1170 Southwest Bayshore Boulevard, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 9:30 AM St. Lucie Catholic Church, 280 SW Prima Vista Bvld, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983. An entombment will occur Thursday, February 1, 2018 following mass, at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 2001 SW Murphy Road, Palm City, FL 34990.
