Stanley C Shirey
August 3, 1926 – December 2, 2019
With great sadness, the family of Stanley Shirey announces his passing on December 2, 2019, at the age of 93 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary M. Shirey. He leaves his daughter, Beth (Bill) Dunham of Dallas, TX; daughter, Barbara (Jim) Kaup of Port St. Lucie, FL; four grandchildren, Geoff Dunham, Amber Bellamy and husband, Jon, Heather Mooneyhan and husband, Trevor, and Jamie Kaup; and great-granddaughter, Evelyn Rose Bellamy.
Stan served in the U.S. Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College and was a member of Lambda Chi fraternity. Stan worked for ALCOA all of his working life. He was a church volunteer, lover of jazz and big band music (especially Glenn Miller), and enjoyed bird watching, photography and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers. His quiet sense of humor was appreciated by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at Aycock Funeral Home, 6801 SE Federal Hwy., Stuart, FL 34997, on Saturday, December 14 at 11:00 a.m. The service will be preceded by a visitation at 10:00. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
