Al was an inspiration to me as a young kid.  My parents took me every Saturday morning for years to paint with Al. At the time I was not always happy to wake up early and drive to Portland, but I am forever grateful now every time I pick up a brush.  A wonderful man who will inspire any artistic endeavours I have for the rest of my life.

I was a student of Al's in 1976 and this wounderfull man open the door to art for me and I was so very greatfull to him. He was so gentle and kind. He will be missed by all.

I was very fortunate to share gallery space with Al, and meet him and his wonderful artist sons. I will treasure the delightful Al Waterman painting I have forever.

Please accept my sympathy.  My late wife Dixie and I enjoyed learning art with Al.  He was a kind and patient teacher that I will always remember.  It was a pleasure to have known him.

Al is the sweetest man I have ever known. Always cheerful and enthusiastic about everything he tackled. I was introduced to Al when I opened a new art gallery in Windham  and I was looking for an artist to feature . A mutual friend sent Al, and it was love at first sight. The show was a success, and my relationship with Al happily continued for the next 12 years.  I own several of his paintings, and think of him often. I will definitely miss you, Al!

So sorry to hear of Al's passing.  I worked in the same building where he had his art studio, and posed on occassion for him and the boys.  They were a crazy group, but Al kept them in line (as best as he could).  Al was a kind, sweet, generous soul.  His passions came through on his canvas - what an "eye" he had.  Rest easy Al.

My condolences to his family.

Al was a customer of ours for years at Tripp's Family Eyewear before we retired.  Over the years, we swapped eyeglasses for paintings and became friends.  I remember him fondly - he was a wonderful gentleman and always had a smile.
