

Bangor – Alice Christine Huntley, 90, lost her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease at Westgate Manor on February 12, 2012 where she lived for over seven years. The people there were so wonderful to her and became her second family. We can never thank them enough for all they did for her.
Christine was born August 31, 1921 in Bath, daughter of the late Lawrence and Emmeline Kelly Gantnier. She later moved to Scarborough with her family where she graduated from Scarborough High School. She also completed one year of the Business School in Portland. She married and was a homemaker and mother until her children graduated from high school. She then had various jobs in town until retiring in her late 60’s. Christine enjoyed crafts, knitting and crocheting.
Besides her parents and husband of 50 years William Huntley, Jr. who died in 1998, she was predeceased by two sisters; Beryl Grant and Margaret Turner and one brother; George Gantnier.
She is survived by her four children; Ronald Buchanan of S. China, Norman Buchanan of Palmetto, FL , Barbara Nevers of Glenburn and William Huntley of Brewer, two stepchildren; Grace Gesualdo of Johnstone, RI and Gladys Libby of Scarborough, ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation Saturday February 25, 2012 from 1 – 2 p.m. at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland.
Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Dunbar officiating.
Interment will be in Brooklawn Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
