Portland, Maine- Andrew Minot Regios passed peacefully on November 11th 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He cashed in his chips as a result of a 20 year battle with the blood disorder, Polycythemia Vera.
He was born in Portland on January 13th 1957 the beloved son of Minot & Constance Nanos Regios. He graduated from Deering High School in 1975 and attended USM in Portland.
After some college and travel Andy joined the family business and helped to build the Pizza Villa into the Portland institution it is today. His personality was an integral part of the ambience that attracted so many loyal customers and friends for so many years. Sadly as his condition progressed he had to withdraw from the business this past April.
Andy brought an endearing child-like enthusiasm to all his endeavors whether it be strumming his guitar, snorkeling on coral reefs, concocting corny puns, working out at the gym or gleefully exposing a full house to win a big hand at poker. Andy on the dance floor was something to behold. His style was quirky but strangely effective, and that somehow typified Andy's approach to life.
None of his interests, however, trumped his greatest passion and that was satisfying his taste for fine cuisine. No celebrity food critic could best Andy when it came to a discriminating palate. He was well known throughout Portland's fine dining establishments and was on a first name basis with almost the entire staff at Whole Foods. Andy was an interesting mix of traits. He loved football but disliked competition. He had a firm grasp of numbers and the value of money but was generous to a fault. He was a firm skeptic yet he embraced the mystical. Overlaying all these qualities was his uncanny perception which connected dots many people never even see never mind connect. Every person is unique but Andy upped the ante.
Andy is survived by his mother Constance Regios, Brother Tony and wife Sandra, Brother Phil and his wife Cathy, his five loving nieces Jennesa, Caitlyn, Jordan, Cristen and Samantha, his sweet cat Meikka, many aunts, uncles, cousins, his remarkable friends as well as his extended Pizza Villa Family.
