Anne Elizabeth Johnson

Portland- Anne Elizabeth Johnson, 90, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Gosnell House in Scarborough. She was the daughter of John and Alice (Korkege) Marchi and was born in Portland on June 16, 1933. She was raised in Portland and graduated from Deering High School and Westbrook College and went to work as a medical secretary for many years, working for Dr. Osher, and at Maine Medical Center in the record room, and for Doctors Hawkes, Wyman, and Webber. She also worked as a secretary for structural engineers at E.C. Jordan. She returned to Maine Medical in the Rehab department till retirement. She volunteered at Maine Medical in the Flower Box, for the Red Cross and the food pantry at Woodfords Church. Anne was very involved in her church at St. Mary’s in Falmouth and sang in the choir at both St. Mary’s and at Trinity in Portland.

She was a lifetime member of the Italian Heritage Club where she sang in their choir and loved playing Bocci. She was involved in many productions at the Lyric Theater. She took belly dancing lessons and also tap danced. She sang with the Sweet Adeline’s, and was a member of the Center Board Yacht Club in South Portland.

Anne is survived by her children, Mark Arsenault of Sanford, and Susan Wiers (Payson) of Gray, her grandchildren Alexander Arsenault of Bangor, Ian Arsenault of South Portland, Justin Frazier of Gray, and Angelina Frazier of New Gloucester, as well as her great grandson Tyler Presby of New Gloucester. She also had several bonus grandchildren. She is also survived by her bonus daughter Cheryl Johnson of Bridgton. She leaves behind her beloved cat Allie.

Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Monday, July 24, 2023, from 2-4 PM at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. A service will follow at 4:00 PM, followed by a reception. Interment will take place at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery in Portland.
