Avis was born in East Machias, ME on March 5, 1928, the daughter of the late Stephen and Leonice Tuell. She was a graduate of Washington Academy, and for many years worked as an LPN at the Osteopathic Hospital of Portland.
Avis enjoyed the company of her friends and playing Beano with them. She liked knitting and sewing, but above all loved the company of her family and holiday gatherings.
Surviving Avis is her son John Spink of Westbrook, ME, and a sister-in-law Agnes Otis of Portland.
A period of visitation for Avis and her family will be held this Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 9 to 11 AM at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland, ME; where funeral services will be held following visitation at 11:00 AM.
