
Barbara was a social and active woman who was involved with the VFW Women’s Auxiliary in South Portland. She enjoyed camping, boating and socializing with her many friends. Barbara loved spending time with her family as well as her dog, Lang, who was her “constant companion” in her later years. Barbara was a breast cancer survivor. Barbara also liked traveling having lived for a time in California and Florida. She also visited Vietnam while in her early 70’s to care for a friend’s mother. Her family will always remember her as a loving, gentle and strong person.
Barbara is survived by her nieces Suzanne L. Stewart of Thomaston and Cynthia Hooper of Windham, her step grandchild Keith Ferrante and his 3 children. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Carroll E. Hooper and Margaret Hooper of Windham, her two sisters; June Hooper and Jane L. Stewart of Poland, her brother Gene Hooper of Gorham, and her beloved husband Raymond P. Knight of South Portland.
Barbara will rest alongside her husband Raymond at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta. Per her wishes, there will not be a service at this time.
