Barbara Louise Wildes

She was born on July 19, 1944 in Portland the daughter of William Hall and Cathryn Burke Calvert. She grew up in Portland and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1962. Barbara retired from Maine Medical Center where she worked 15 years in the emergency department as an admitting clerk. She was also employed with USF & G Insurance Company.

You could always find Barbara at her most favorite spot, the kitchen, table that was always surrounded by family and friends. She loved to laugh and talk over a cup of hot tea. Her greatest joy in life was caring for her husband Don, her children, and grandchildren. In her younger days she enjoyed camping with her family.

She is survived by her husband Donald of 51 years, her children Donald B Wildes Jr and his wife Sue of Steep Falls, Katherine V Peare and her husband Keith of Westbrook, and Jean E. Wildes of Sebago; her grandchildren Joshua, Zachary, Christopher and Jessica; her siblings Patricia A Calvert of Westbrook, William Calvert and his wife Marie of Steep Falls, Elizabeth Kearns and her husband David of Gorham, Mary Ayotte and her husband Lewis of Saco; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly.

She was predeceased by her parents William and Kathryn Calvert, a sister Theresa Durst and her husband Robert of New Mexico, a brother in law Robert Wildes.

The family invites you share stories with them on Saturday May 21st from 2:00 – 4:00pm at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland ME. Followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00pm at Jones, Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home followed by a committal service on Monday May 23rd at 1:30pm.
