

Bette was born on March, 4, 1953 in Portland, Me. She attended local schools and graduated from Deering High School in 1971. Following high school Bette attended the University of Denver earning her Masters Degree in Special Education. She would return to Maine to teach in Ellsworth and Windham High School and eventually she would travel to Europe to teach at the US military schools. It was there that she would meet her future husband Michael Morgan while he was on active duty with the Air Force at the Ramstein AB, Germany.
Together they moved stateside to the Seattle area where she would continue teaching. She would later settle in the Reno area where she taught first and second grades at the Lincoln Park Elementary in Sparks, NV.
Bette was always an active and outgoing person. She enjoyed traveling, skiing, family fun on Peaks Island and Higgins Beach while in Maine, as well as year round activities at Lake Tahoe, and of course playing Bunco with the neighborhood women. Bette was a loving wife, stepmother and sister. Her vibrant smile could light up a room and her love of helping others will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
Predeceasing Bette were her parents Sonny and Elizabeth (Mansell) Blake.
She is survived by her husband Michael Morgan of Sparks, NV, stepdaughters Ashley Morgan and Emily Morgan, a brother Thomas Blake and his partner Vicki Mercier of Portland, a sister Cindy Poland and her husband Rick of Hollis, as well as several other extended family members.
An 11:00 AM graveside service for Bette will be held this Saturday, April 25th at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland. Family and friends are then invited to a time of fellowship following the service at her brother Tom and Vicki’s home in Westbrook.
