Carol was born in Arlington, Massachusetts on May 12, 1942, the daughter of Raymond and Natalie Scheublin. She graduated from Bedford High School in Massachusetts and Westbrook Junior College in Portland.
In 1962, Carol married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Kenneth Bartlett and together they had a son Jeffrey Scott Bartlett who was the light of her life.
Carol worked for 28 years at Union Mutual Insurance Company, later called UNUM. Over the years, Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and traveling to many places with her husband Dick. They loved playing cards with friends. One of her favorite activities was to walk the streets and trails of her Stroudwater neighborhood. She also enjoyed watching Red Sox games. Her son Jeff recalls hearing many people say “your mother is one of the sweetest, kindest women I’ve ever met”, hearing it up until her last days in hospice.
She was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 62 years.
Carol is survived by her son Jeffrey and his partner Donna Castle, her brother Ken Scheublin and his wife Meta, her grandchildren Alexa and Nolan Bartlett and their mother Christine Bartlett. She is also survived by her niece Jenna Reardon and her husband John.
Donations may be made in Carol’s memory to the St. Jude’s Children’s Foundation, her favorite organization.
A Celebration of Life will take place later this summer.
The family extends their thanks to the staff and caregivers of the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for their outstanding and compassionate care of Carol.
