Portland, ME — Charlene C. Tracy, 89, of Allen Avenue, passed away on October 21, 2026. She was born in Calais, Maine, on July 11, 1937, the daughter of Harold and Florence (Cline) McKenzie.
Charlene was a hardworking and determined woman who dedicated 28 years of service to Maine Medical Center. She began her career as a Linen Processing Supervisor and ultimately retired as Director of Linen Processing. Before that, she worked at the Trident Sardine Factory in Portland, Songo Shoe Store, and Cushman’s Bakery. Through years of hard work and perseverance, Charlene exemplified the strength, dedication, and determination that defined her life.
Charlene was a woman like no other. Strong, fearless, and full of fire, she had a spitfire personality that made her unforgettable. She stood her ground, spoke her mind, and faced life’s challenges head-on. No matter what life threw her way, she refused to give up. Her strength could not easily be shaken, and her spirit would never be broken. She lived life on her own terms, with courage, determination, and a toughness that was uniquely hers.
Her life was measured not only in years, but also in the hardships she overcame, the work she put in, and the lasting legacy she leaves behind. Charlene knew how to persevere, how to keep moving forward, and how to stand tall even when life was difficult. She carried that strength throughout her life and passed it down to the generations who followed her.
Though her passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, the fire that burned within Charlene will never truly go out. It will live on through the stories shared, the memories cherished, and the strength she instilled in her family. She was fearless. She was strong. She was one of a kind. A spitfire until the very end, Charlene will never be forgotten. May she finally rest peacefully, knowing she has earned her rest and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved her.
In her free time, Charlene enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, dancing, and listening to country music.
