

Charles Constantino Ferrante, 76 passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011. Charlie was born in Portland Maine, February 13, 1935, the son of Carmine and Laurina (Dipaolo) Ferrante.
Charlie grew up in a close-knit Italian family neighborhood in Portland. He graduated from Portland High School and attended Portland Junior College. He served in the Army National Guard. He owned Charles C. Ferrante Trucking Co. and retired as a proud member of the Teamsters Union. He married Kathleen Murray on May 28, 1960.
Charlie was a lifetime member of the Italian Heritage Center. Charlie was a creative, social person who enjoyed golfing, Bocci, chess, storytelling and most important family gatherings. His spare time was occupied by woodworking in the basement, art, and music.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Santino and two sisters, Antionette Gignac and Arlene Sandora. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Portland, son Christopher and wife Stephanie Ferrante, his daughters Tricia and partner Rachel, Judith, Kathryn, Laura and husband James Baxter and Maria and husband Andrew Millikin. Also surviving are his brother Thomas and wife Donna Ferrante, and sisters Mary Ann Maloney, Lucy and husband Raymond Maxwell, Alvita Vecchione, Connie and husband Richard Lane.
Charlie is fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 from 4:00– 7:00pm at Jones, Rich and Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, ME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at 9:30am at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
