

Constance (Connie) Appleby Sewell died on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Born, April 2, 1931 in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Lucille and Christie Appleby. She lived in Houlton Maine, Terryville Ct, Bristol Ct and for the past several years, South Portland Maine. In Bristol she was a receptionist for Dr. William Lucey and volunteered at the Bristol Hospital. Upon moving to Maine in retirement, she volunteered over 3000 hours at Mercy Hospital where she was also a member of the Auxiliary. She was a former member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Bristol and an active member of Old St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Portland serving on the altar guild and vestry.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Sewell of Southington CT, a son Richard Sewell and his wife Patricia of Pooler Georgia; a grandson, Jamison Chasse of Southington Ct; a brother Richard Appleby and his wife Virgina of Georgia, several nieces, nephews and cousins including Joyce and Diane Curry of Portland ME. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Sewell and a brother Allen Appleby.
There will be no calling hours. The Funeral will be at St. Paul’s Parish, 279 Congress St, Portland on Friday, September 23 at 10:30 a.m. There will be a catered reception at Jones, Rich & Hutchins 199 Woodford Street in Portland immediately following the service. All are welcome to come share memories, laughter or some tears. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Terryville CT at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Matthew Dugan and the staff of New England Cancer Center for their compassionate care over the past several years and the staff at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
