Falmouth - Delores Gervers Curran, 86, of Falmouth, Maine passed peacefully at home on Thursday evening, May 17th 2012. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends as she passed. Delores was born in Passaic, NJ on November 2, 1925 to Madeline and Paul Gervers. She grew up in Teaneck NJ, graduated from Teaneck High School and then Douglass College in New Brunswick, NJ.
Delores was married to Arthur C. Curran for 61 years raising 5 children together in HoHoKus, NJ. Delores spent most of her time as a homemaker and mother but also worked as a dietitian, accountant for the township of HoHoKus, as well as for her husband’s business. She and her husband enjoyed sports and exercise including tennis, swimming and golf. She also loved playing bridge with their friends and in later days all card games with her grandchildren. They also enjoyed many family vacations at beaches such as Cape Cod and the Jersey Shore.
Upon her husband’s retirement, Delores and Arthur split time between their home in Fort Meyers, Florida and their home next to their daughter’s family in Falmouth, Maine. They treasured both communities through these years eventually spending more time with their loving family and friends in Falmouth. They loved the community in Falmouth. In her later years, Delores enjoyed living at Foreside Harbor in Falmouth as well.
She is predeceased by her husband Arthur Curran and survived by her five children: Jacqueline Curran Harper and her husband Ken of Macon GA, Joanne Curran Celentano and her husband Ray of Durham NH, Arthur C Curran and his wife Donna of Libertyville IL, MaryBeth Curran Bachman of Falmouth ME, and Teresa Curran Mascuch and her husband Brian of Baltimore MD. She is survived by her 12 grandchildren: Danielle Curran De La Cova and husband Kevin, Jeanne Marie Celentano Halleck and her husband Ben, Megan Woodhall Carson and her husband Josh, Joseph Arthur Curran, Jessica Celentano and her fiancée David Wurzburg, Lauren Woodhall, Brendan Mascuch, Kaitlin Curran, Colin Mascuch, Ryan Bachman, Sara Bachman and Nick Bachman. She is also the great grandmother of Aidan De La Cova. She is survived by her sister, Geraldine Champlin of Hobart IN and her sister-in-law Mary Curran Henderson and her husband Gerry. Delores is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, May 20th from 6 – 8 PM at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 21st at 10 AM at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 266 Foreside Road, Falmouth, Maine.
