

Portland, Maine-Dominic A. Oddi age 89 of Gray passed away on October 1, 2014 at Maine Medical Center after a long illness. He was born In Portland, Maine on February 18, 1925 the son of Pietro A. and Anna P. Oddi. He attended Portland High School and enlisted in the United States Navy serving as a gunners mate on the U.S.S. Cogswell in WWII. He became a member of the Order of the Golden Dragon when they crossed the equator.
Upon Honorable Discharge, Dominic was employed by Corenco Rendering Co. of Portland, Maine for 46 years. After retirement, he worked for the Portland School Department and later for the Lady Slipper Flower Shop in Gray, Maine as a delivery man. He was a pack leader for Troop 86 of the Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of the Presumpscot Masonic Lodge #70 of Windham, Deering Chapter #59 OES, and an avid Boston Red Sox Fan.
He is survived by his wife of 64 ½ Years, Ethel (McLellan) Oddi of Gray, three sons Peter Oddi of Farmington, NH, Mark Oddi and his wife Diana (Butler) of Gray, ME, and Paul Oddi of Bridgton, Maine, two sisters Ellen Peoples and Frances and Her husband John Saccone, a grandson Anthony Oddi, three granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers John A., Guido N., and Louis F. Oddi.
Friends and family are invited to attend a time of visitation on Monday October 6, 2014 from 4 to 7 P.M. in the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, Maine. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home Tuesday October 7, 2014 starting at 9A.M. with procession to St. Peters Roman Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M.
