Donald R. Bernier

Donald R. Bernier 76 of Westbrook passed away on Thursday 2/25 following a long battle with cancer. He was born in Biddeford on July 10, 1939. The eldest son of Winfred and Florence Bernier, he attended local schools.

He was a self-employed craftsmen specializing in word working. He

enjoyed spending time painting in multiple mediums, but found watercolors to be his favorite.

He was the life companion of Connie Smith, with whom he shared his love and zest of life.

He and Connie enjoyed travel, once leaving spontaneously on a road trip that covered half of the United States in 30 days letting the road dictate where they would spend the night.

He is survived by Connie Smith of Westbrook, a daughter Carrie (Peter) Rondeau of Denver, CO., sons Mark of San Diego, CA., David (Julie) of Rice Lake, WI grandchildren Alec Rondeau, Allie & Gina Bernier. A sister Constance of Sanford, Patty (Don) Letellier of Saco. He was predeceased by his parents.

You are invited to visiting hours at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home,199 Woodford St Portland on Monday 4-pm-7pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at St Anthony of Padua, 268 Brown St Westbrook at 11:00am. A committal will be held at St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery at the families’ convenience.
