

He was born in Portland, ME on June 1, 1932 the son of Miles and Gladys Farr. He attended Portland schools and graduated from Deering High School with the class of 1952. After graduation he worked at A.H. Benoit as a part time salesman before joining the Air Force in 1954. He attended electronics school at Biloxi, MS ad served at Loring AF Base and in Germany. He was discharged in 1966 and then attended Trinity Bible College in Clearwater, FL. He had hopes of becoming a missionary, but this was not to be.
Donald worked many jobs including the OR at MMC, Cushman’s Bakery, Anderson Little, and MBI Security. He was a member of the American Legion Post 129 and 164 serving as Service Officer at the post, county, and district level. He belonged to the VFW 6859 and DAV Chapter 3 as well as being a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11257. He was Chairman of Veterans Affairs for 2 years, involved with the Southern Maine Veterans Home and Special Olympics. Don was also a member of Voiture 1003 where he served as Chef de Gare in 2001 -2002, he was a Director of the Carville Star on the Voiture level as well as the Grande du Maine, he served both the Voiture and the 40 & 8 as Aumonier. Don was instrumental in raising funds for Hansen’s disease. He was a loving husband and father that enjoyed listening to Christian music, going out to eat with friends and taking boat rides down Casco Bay.
He is survived by his wife Marcia; daughter Debra Farr-Delea of Belfast; step-daughter Mary Ellen Lucas and her husband David of South Portland, grandchildren Shaila and Noah Delea; Nolan and Wakine Lucas.

The family would like to invite you to attend visiting hours on Tuesday January 3rd from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St., Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday January 4th at 11:00am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 673 Stevens Ave, Portland.
