

Winthrop – Douglas Howard Ingalls, 55, died peacefully after a short battle with cancer on January 19th, holding hands with the love of his life. He was born in St Albans, VT on November 19, 1960. He was predeceased by his mother, Janice Ingalls. A 1980 graduate of Deering High School he was most recently employed by the Augusta Civic Center. In 1996 Doug married Yvette, his love and partner in fun and together they raised two sons Joseph and Matthew. The love he had for his boys was unmeasurable. As soulmates, Yvette and Doug enjoyed many of the same things, including their love of the Andy Griffith show. In the company of friends, they could be known to transform into character and recite line by line one of their many favorite episodes. Doug was a giving and loving person who always put the needs of others before his own. He loved spending time with his family and friends on a family owned island in Bucks Harbor. He loved to cook and often prepared meals for various large family gatherings. Doug encouraged those close to him to spend time with those you find precious and those who feel the same in return.
As a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend Doug leaves many people who loved him including his beloved wife Yvette Ingalls of Winthrop, his two sons, Joseph Ingalls and wife Krista(Day) Ingalls of Farmingdale, Matthew Ingalls of Winthrop , his father, Emery W. Ingalls of Portland, brothers Bruce Ingalls and his wife Jannelle of Noblesville, IN, Donald Ingalls of Windham, sisters Lori (Ingalls) Harrison and her husband Joel of Portland, Kathleen (Lindsey) Ennis and her husband David of Windham, Karen (Lindsey) Varney and her husband Edward of Northport, Cheryl (Lindsey) Walker and her husband Brad of Clermont, FL He was also Uncle Doug to several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford Street in Portland, Maine. A funeral service will be held Tuesday January 26, 2016 at 11:00AM in the funeral home. Interment will be in the spring at Hillside Cemetery in Machiasport, Maine.
