Earl P. McCarthy

North Waterboro - Earl P. McCarthy, 50, passed away peacefully in his sleep after an extended illness on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at his home in North Waterboro. He was born on March 3, 1963, in Portland, the son of the late Earl C. McCarthy and Mary F. McCarthy (McElhill). He was a 1981 graduate of Westbrook High School. Upon graduating from high school he was employed by Portland Glass. He joined the Army in 1985 where he became an Army Ranger. He was very proud of this accomplishment.

In August of 1990, he and Deborah White were married in Limington at the home of his mother. They raised two sons, Patrick and Shawn. He was extremely proud of his “boys” and attended as many of their sporting events as he could. Earl was a volunteer coach, umpire and referee when his sons were younger. He will be remembered for his many hours of volunteer work to the sports programs. He touched many lives in the community of Waterboro. Earl worked at a landscape business for a time, and also did concrete work. He loved working outside. Earl was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a fan of Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. He loved watching sports with his sons, and was often found in front of the TV during any sporting event.

He is survived by his wife Deborah, of 23 years, his sons, Patrick and Shawn, all of North Waterboro, his mother Mary McCarthy (McElhill), his sister Linda McCarthy both of Limington. He is also survived by his “Auntie”, Lisa Littlefield of Limington. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, four nieces, two nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Family and Friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Monday, October 21, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodfords St. Portland. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home. Interment will follow immediately at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress St. Portland.
