Edith C. Hansen

Portland- Edith Corinne Hansen, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Portland on Friday, July 12. Edith was born in Kennebunk on September 21, 1926. She was the youngest child of Albert and Ethel Hutchins. Her father died when she was about one year old and her mother later married Ernest Benson.

Edith graduated from Biddeford High School. She married Harold T. Hansen (deceased 2002). She attended the North Deering Alliance Church for many years She is survived by sons Peter Hansen of Scarborough and Stephen Hansen of Washington, DC, daughter-in-law Kay Hansen, grandchildren Gretchen Briggs of Hollis Center and Derrek Hansen of Quebec City, Canada, and great grandchildren Lane Briggs, and Alexandre and Nicholas Hansen.

The family would like to thank the staff of Home Instead for their care, personal dedication and hard work, which contributed greatly to her health, happiness, and well-being in her last years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland on Monday, July 15 from 4-7 PM. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 16 at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland with Rev. Phil Shearman offciating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edith’s memory to the American Lung Association 122 State Street Augusta, Maine 04330.
