Elaine Cassandra Erickson

South Portland ME- Elaine passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at the age of 72.

Born and raised in Portland, Maine, Elaine was the daughter of Christine and James Lekousi. She grew up in a close-knit Greek family.

Elaine was a Registered Nurse whose compassion and dedication defined her work. She cared for others with empathy, steadiness, and professionalism, leaving a lasting impression on patients, families, and colleagues. Her compassion extended far beyond her patients. Caring for others wasn’t simply what she did—it was who she was.

Music was central to Elaine’s life. She was a gifted singer and guitarist with a warm, expressive voice and natural musical talent. She wrote a song about resilience—about how life can bring hardship, but you must keep moving forward. That message reflected her spirit and the way she lived.

She shared her love of music with her children, Athena and Doug, raising them in a home where guitars, singing, and creativity were part of everyday life. Before buying them their first guitars, she required them to show commitment by learning on her well-worn Yamaha acoustic guitar. Once they did, she surprised Athena with a pink electric guitar and Doug with a blue electric guitar—gifts that marked the beginning of a lifelong love of music for both of them. Some of their favorite memories are of singing together at home, where music was simply part of being a family.

The Lekousi family’s musical roots ran deep, and Elaine carried that tradition forward. Her home was filled with music, and she shared it generously with family and friends alike. Despite sustaining a brain injury at the age of 38, she continued to share her love through singing with her family and caregivers. Even as so much changed, music remained one of the ways she connected with the people she loved.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Athena Erickson-Davis; her son, Douglas Erickson; her son-in-law, Rhad Davis; her brothers, Steven (Cheryl), Peter (Sandra), and Chris (Joanne Flaherty); her grandchildren, Jimmy, Bailey, Olivia, and Sephy; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who will remember her kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Christine and James Lekousi.

Elaine will be remembered for her deep compassion, her devotion to family, her musical gifts, and the love she expressed through both care and song. She believed that no matter how difficult life became, you kept moving forward—a message she shared in the song she wrote and in the life she lived. If you were fortunate enough to know her, chances are you heard her sing. Her voice—and the love behind it—will never be forgotten.

Her family would like to thank the Barron Center and Pinnacle Health for taking care of her over the years.

Services will be held at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland, Maine.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m, where a time of sharing and reflection will begin at 12pm.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 10 am. at Forest City Cemetery, 232 Lincoln Street, South Portland, Maine.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine.
