Francis Earl Lennon

Saco, ME – On September 13th, 2026, Francis Earl Lennon passed away peacefully at home with Family, Friends and Neighbors surrounding him. Francis (“Frank”) was 84 years old and passed after being diagnosed with cancer just 6 months prior.

Francis Lennon lived a big life and travelled the world, though many people never knew his full story. Francis was a High School Basketball Player, Air Force Veteran, General Contractor, Elder in the Church of God in Christ, International Board Member for Habitat for Humanity, Director of a Drug Recovery Center and even an Uber Driver later in life.

Francis was born in McKeesport, PA to his Mother Johnnie Bell McElvene and Father Robert Lennon. Francis was the oldest of his 4 other siblings: Regina Humphrey, Dolores Davis, Moses Lennon and Gary Lennon. Francis was the 1st of his family to attend college, where he studied at both NYU and MIT in Cambridge, MA.

In his early 20’s, Francis moved to New York, where he met his 1st wife, Janet Lennon, who then had Craig Lennon, who now lives in Saco, ME. In his 30’s, Francis met his 3rd wife, Sheila Lennon, who then had Tim Lennon and Annique Lennon, who now live in Seattle, WA. Francis had 7 Grandchildren–Dale Lennon, Danny Lennon, Nellie Lennon, Norah Lennon, Joe Danis, Jordan Wilson, and Gus Lennon, and 1 Great Grandson, Damien Lennon.

Beyond his Family and Education, Francis lived a life full of love for any and all he encountered. Rarely was Francis not the life of the party as he shared his vast experience and deep commitment to God. In his final years of life, his son, Craig and daughter-in-law, Ann Lennon moved Francis into their home in Saco where he enjoyed his neighbors and his time at the Southern Maine Agency on Aging’s Sam L. Cohen Center, where he attended their Adult Day Program for nearly 4 Years.

Services will be held on September 22nd at New Life Church 551 Alfred R. Biddeford, ME 04005

10:00am Services to begin with Pastor Justin Sweeney officiating, followed with a Reception for Family and Friends. At 12:00pm there will be a procession to Francis’s final resting place at the Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, ME. Funeral Services provided by Jones, Rich and Barnes Funeral Home in Portland, ME.
