Francis Reid MacDonald

Fran grew up in Calais attending Calais Elementary School and graduating from Calais High School in 1979. He continued on to the University of Maine at Orono where he graduated with a degree in Business and Marketing in 1983.

Fran was an Account Executive for Procter and Gamble 1986 to present. Fran was a devoted employee, often working late into the night at home to meet the needs of his customers; but it was a job he enjoyed and made him many friends both in and outside of P&G. He was proud of the awards and accomplishments he and his team achieved.

In July of 1999 he married the love of his life, Linda Qualey.

In his personal life Fran was special in many ways; his thoughtfulness and caring as a son, brother, uncle, husband, and friend were exceptional. He rarely missed an opportunity to give a gift or flowers on a special occasion, and he was always there to support his wife and family in times of need.

Fran was an avid sports fan- a 17 year Patriots ticket holder, Celtics fan, and college football enthusiast. He was a lifelong traveler, especially enjoying his trips to Germany and Italy. He enjoyed sharing great food and drink with intimate groups of family and friends. He coached little league baseball and basketball and was very supportive of his nieces and nephews, often traveling long distances to show up for a game.

He is predeceased by his father, Francis Reid MacDonald; grandparents, Shirley and Buster MacDonald, Doris and Clinton Flood.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; mother, Joan MacDonald; sisters, Mary Bartlett and Michele Robinson; aunt, Mary MacDonald; eight nephews, eight nieces and a great niece.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation Tuesday, February 7, 2012, starting at 11 am followed by a Funeral service at 12 noon at Jones, Rich, and Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodfords Street in Portland. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
