Just out of the military and a new Falmouth resident in the early 70s, I met Fred at the Falmouth Town dump. He noticed that I was having trouble loading a discarded Ford rear axle into my truck and casually walked over to help. He always moved at Fred Chase speed. With his dry tone, he asked what I needed it for and added that I couldn't beat the price.
Weeks later, I saw Fred again at Eddies Variety where he asked how the axle worked out. That was the beginning of a treasured friendship that has come to an end way too soon.

FRED
Thanks for the support, advice, and friendship !!

Fred was a diplomat, always fair and honest. He encouraged us (and others) to participate in community organizations, and help him make Falmouth a great place to live. He lead by example by donating thousands of hours of his time. You could not find a more friendly person then Fred. He will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

What would we all want someone to say after we died ... I’m sure something complimentary .... accolades of some sort ... I never asked Freddie what he wanted me to say on his behalf
even when he was going down hill .... all I want to say is that Fred chase was a kind person .... he had a big heart and would extend kindness to anyone that needed it ... he had so many stories that were worth listening in to .. but , would take the time to listen to you explain how your day went ... we will all miss his presence ... my children especially... who always looked for Fred and his smile at eddies every morning we could make it there .... god rest Fred.., you will be missed... roger Brunelle and family
