Portland - George Levick Street, IV, the only son of a Navy submariner awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1943, was born in Norfolk, Virginia on June 5, 1945. While his father taught Military Science at MIT, George was educated at Andover, graduated from the University of Virginia and received his master’s degree from the University of Wyoming. It was at the University of Virginia that he met his wife, Kathryn. He did a tour in Vietnam between 1968 - 1969. He is a retired Army Colonel.
George was also Vice President of marketing for General Railway Signal in Rochester, NY from 1993 - 1997, then Vice President of Operations for William Arther, a stationery company in Kennebunk, Maine. He retired in 2011.
An intensely private man, he loved his family, his dogs, his orchids, fishing, reading, and taking care of his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; his sister, Kristopher Terry; his daughter, Heather Street Crump and husband Christopher; his son, Graeme Levick Street and wife Katherine; and five grandchildren: Abigail, Payton, Finn, Roan, and Kai. He was 73.
