

She was born on February 19, 1936, a daughter of Frank and Bernice (Fitzmorris) Fortier. She grew up on Munjoy Hill and attended Portland High School where she met the love of her life, John Fitzpatrick. They were married on Valentine’s day Feb. 14, 1952
In her young years, while her husband served in the Army, she worked as a nanny in New York City. She later worked for many years as a CNA and worked in various healthcare facilities in the Greater Portland area.
Glennis’s greatest gift was her family. She and John had six wonderful children together.
She was pre-deceased by a son, Jack and a brother John.
Glennis leaves behind her loving husband and very best friend of 61 years, John Fitzpatrick of Scarborough; her six children, Nancy Spear of Falmouth, Dan Fitzpatrick and his wife Jeri of Gray. Carol Fitzpatrick and her partner Bruce of Portland. Mike Fitzpatrick and his wife Carolyn of North Yarmouth, and Mary Tibbetts and her husband Ken of Westbrook. She is also survived by a sister Nancy Beckwith of Otisfield; her dear friend of almost 70 years, Shirley and her husband Floyd Gowen of Bucksport; her many friends in Tavares Florida where they wintered for almost 20 years including Barbara O’Connor, Norma and Walter Eastman and her good friend Barbara Holmes of Scarborough. Glennis is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to acknowledge the staff at the Gosnell Hospice House for their kind and compassionate care.
A visiting hour will be held from 2-3 pm on Monday, October 27, 2014 at Jones Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland, followed by a funeral service at 3 pm. Interment will be private.
