

Gloria Jean (Rodney) Finney, of Scarborough, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by loved ones on May 25th, 2016, while vacationing in Tampa, FL. She was born on September 20th, 1956 in Portland, the daughter of Thomas E. and Judith E. Rodney. She attended Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School in 1974. Gloria worked in the food service industry and worked at Pat’s Pizza of Scarborough for the past 25 years, where she enjoyed interacting and having fun with her regular customers. She made lifelong friendships with her co-workers. She loved her family. Gloria cherished spending time with them by holding cookouts in her backyard and making sure Christmas was a joyous time for her extended family. She was a generous person to so many family and friends, always offering a helping hand whenever possible. Horse racing was a favorite pastime for Gloria. She often frequented Scarborough Downs where she made many lasting friendships. She also liked taking trips to Foxwoods Casino. Gloria enjoyed sports of all types. She was proud of her sports knowledge and liked talking sports trivia with friends and family. She loved animals. After the passing of her dogs, Homer and Barney, she would often volunteer to dog sit for neighbors and friends. In recent years, Gloria and her partner Jeff, loved their frequent trips to Florida. She enjoyed spending time on the beach, shopping at the malls, going to the casino, and making new friendships. Gloria loved life and always tried to make any experience into a fun time. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Gloria is survived by her loving partner and companion of 32 years, Jeffrey Benedetti of Scarborough; her daughter Heather Kallelis and her husband John of Bedford, NH; her mother Judith E. Rodney of Westbrook; her sister Cheryl Rodney and partner Michael Barnes of Westbrook, her brother Kevin Rodney of Westbrook; and her sister Kellie Brant and husband Chuck of Bradenton, FL. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Gloria is predeceased by her father, Thomas, a brother Thomas Jr., and a sister, Jeanette Rose.
Friends and family are invited to a time of Visitation from 4:00–7:00 pm on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Jones, Rich &Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodfords St. Portland, Maine. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodfords St. Portland, Maine.
